Join Texas Corn Producers Association and fellow agricultural groups for a virtual conversation about U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s (USFWS) recent Lesser Prairie-Chicken listing on Monday, December 19 from 3-5 p.m.
On November 25, 2022, USFWS announced that two separate populations of Lesser Prairie-Chicken would be added to the Threatened and Endangered Species List.
A Northern Distinct Population Segment (DPS) was designated and listed as Threatened and a Southern Distinct Population Segment was listed as Endangered.
These listing will impact habitat areas within the following counties:
- Bailey
- Cochran
- Deaf Smith
- Donley
- Gaines
- Gray
- Hemphill
- Hockley
- Lamb
- Lipscomb
- Ochiltree
- Roberts
- Terry
- Wheeler
- Yoakum
Farmers, ranchers, land managers and others within habitat areas are encouraged to learn more about the Endangered Species Act listing and its potential impacts.
