The Texas Corn Producers Association held its annual meeting in Lubbock, Texas, on January 22, 2024. TCPA President Jim Sugarek presided over the meeting and highlighted the efforts of the association over the past year.

Tom Sell with Combest, Sell and Associates gave insight on federal policies and the progress of the next farm bill.

TCPA members present at the meeting also re-elected four board members to fill five expiring board of directors seats. Those re-elected were:

  • Kyla Hamilton of Lubbock County
    Region 2 – South Plains
  • Chad Wetzel of Grayson County
    Region 3 – North and Central Texas
  • Larry Mason of Dallam County
    At-Large Seat
  • Russell Williams of Lubbock County
    At-Large Seat

The TCPA board also voted to re-elect its current officers to serve another 1-year term. Those serving as officers are:

  • President Jim Sugarek of Bee County
  • Vice President Hagen Hunt of Hale County
  • Secretary/Treasurer Chad Wetzel of Grayson County

TCPA will continue its advocacy work on behalf of the state’s corn farmers this year – particularly working with policy makers on the new farm bill to ensure it meets the needs of Texas corn farmers.
