Whether your love for corn run deeps through your roots or is just sprouting, the series Advocating for Corn Effectively (ACE) may be for you.
The ACE series is a virtual three-day program that spans over three weeks: Feb. 10, 17 and 24. Each session will last from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. The deadline for applications are Friday, Feb 3. Class sizes are limited to 35 advocates, so interested participants should APPLY NOW.
This three-part series enhances and prepares you to become an effective advocate for the corn industry. While engaging you in different aspects of the political process, the ACE series is meant to help advocates learn how to shares corn growers’ messages to those who hold political power.
SESSION 1: How Congress really works
The first session will cover the goals and roles of Congress. You will hear from policy staff and other experts on the structure of government offices, the legislative and committee process as well as the role of political action committees (PACs).
SESSION 2: Effective advocacy
Learning how to be an advocate also means learning how to be an effective one, which is what session two emphasizes. See how various other organizations have approached advocacy and what they have done to become successful.
SESSION 3: Becoming a trusted resource
This session will focus on what it means to form trusting relationships and how to be seen as a credible resource for elected officials.
