The Texas Corn Producers Board (TCPB) is a statewide board funded by a voluntary checkoff program. The program focuses on research, education, and promotion to further the corn industry in Texas, and to create better marketing opportunities for farmers.
The first Texas corn checkoff program began in 1980 in a seven-county area of the Texas High Plains. Farmers throughout the other 247 counties voted in a referendum completed April 4, 1990, to extend the program and authority of the TCPB statewide. A referendum completed Jan. 16, 2006, expanded the checkoff program to include corn grown for silage.
