Texas producers are encouraged to schedule appointments to enroll in Agricultural Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs. To enroll in these important risk management programs for the 2019 crop year, producers must make selections by the end of the business day on Monday, March 16, 2020. Producers should schedule their appointment prior to this deadline by calling their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) as soon as possible.
Through the March 16 deadline, producers can enroll in ARC or PLC for both 2019 and 2020 during the same visit to an FSA county office unless yield updates are requested. Additionally, farm owners have a one-time opportunity to update PLC payment yields that take effect beginning with crop year 2020. If the owner accompanies the producer to the office, the yield update and enrollments may be completed during the same office visit.
Texas Corn Producers encourages producers to evaluate their farm program options as they make their enrollment decisions. The Ag and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M University (AFPC) has developed an online yield update and program selection tool which is available online at https://www.afpc.tamu.edu/tools/farm/farmbill/2018. Learn more about the decisions to be made this year and the decision tool in TCP’s prior post HERE.
By enrolling soon, producers can beat the rush as the deadline nears for these selections. Visit FSA’s ARC/PLC Program page for complete details about these programs. To enroll, producers should contact your FSA county office for an appointment.
