South Plains Bug Scout School

This program provides instruction on how to scout for insects in major crops in the Lubbock area. Earn 3 TDA CEUs! The program is free and geared toward crop consultants, farmers and their workers, AgriLife Extension agents and their interns, and any agricultural-related worker interested in scouting fields and pest management.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the program begins at 8:30 a.m. Topics will include:

  • Cotton; agronomy and plant mapping, insect pests and scouting, hands-on cotton plant mapping
  • Corn and grain sorghum; agronomy and insect pests, beneficial insects
  • Peanuts; insects and diseases
